The Academic Study of Freemasonry

The academic study of freemasonry has been increasingly seen as important in academic circles. Centres for the study of freemasonry are associated with the universities of e.g. Sheffield, Brussels and Bordeaux. The University of Leiden has had a Chair for the Study of Freemasonry (as an intellectual current and socio-cultural phenomenon since 2000.
